The greatest gift

The greatest gift you can give.........is your time.
Time to listen to someone hurting.
Time to an animal shelter to be a dog walker.
Time to go to a rest home and talk with those who have no visitors.
Time in your church children's dept. to allow parents to enjoy the services.
Time to take a shut in to the Doctor. Time to pick up trash along the highway.
Time to knit or sew for charity.
Time to help at a soup kitchen.

On Far side of fifty she shared a tradition of making May bags and filling them with candy.

While riding the trolley recently the driver stopped to pick up some people of whom one, was an older man in a wheelchair. They helped him get up in the trolley and the driver hollered "someone give this man a seat"! Immediately a young woman who was in the very front seat stood up. The man hesitated and really didn't want to take it (am sure he had been raised to give up his seat for a lady) but out of sheer necessity sat down and quietly said "thank-you".
Kindness needs to be recieved as well as given.

Car wash

The other day my hubby and I got my car washed and when you are finished and drive out there is a man waiting to give it a towel dry....This guy had tattoos all over his arms and it would be easy to judge him but he worked real hard and did a good job. Hubby only had a $5.00 bill on him and asked the man to give him back 3 ones which would give him a $2.00 tip...the man said he would have to go inside to get the change, came out and handed my hubby the ones and we headed home. About half way home my hubby looks at the ones still in his hand and realizes the guy gave him all five ones and didn't keep the two for a tip..... Hubby said a bad word, turned around and went back, parked the car and walked around the car the guy was currently wiping down and handed him the two dollars.....I wished I would have had a camera! The guy was absolutely gleeful. Now, I don't think it was over the two dollars because he said over and over "Thank you for your honesty"....he waved at me and gave this big thumbs up and was just beaming.
It took very little effort and seemed to bring him such joy just doing what is right.

Making a difference

In this photo taken Oct. 8, 2009, Derreck Kayongo displays bars of soap he has stored in the basement of his Lawrenceville, Ga., home. Kayongo has collected five tons of lightly used bars through his Global Soap Project, which melts them down, sterilizes them and reshapes them before sending them to refugees back in Uganda to help curb disease there. The soap-maker's son forced to flee a dictatorship years ago in Uganda is helping clean up his war-torn homeland, one used bar of American hotel soap at a time. (AP Photo/John Bazemore)

The most caring child

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old man's yard, climbed onto his lap and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "nothing, I just helped him cry."

Beauty Tips by Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993)

For attractive lips,
Speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes,
Seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure,
Share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair,
Let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.

For poise,
Walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored,
renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed;
Never throw out anybody.

Remember, if you need a helping hand,
You'll find one at the end of your arm.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands,

One for helping yourself, the other for helping others.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carried, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows,
And the beauty of a woman with passing years-only grows!
